And We have sent to you a Messenger
from amongst you,
Reciting to you Our verses, and purifying you,
and instructing you in Scripture, and in Wisdom,
and in new knowledge about things you did not know. (Al-Baqarah, 2: 151)

they learn as they start the day with a morning assembly, join the
community in congregational prayer, and recite daily duas that have
been memorized throughout the day.

schools around the country, it introduces students to the essentials of

continuation of of the elementary texts.

Grades 2-4 and 5-8 are split into levels for Arabic
classes, and starting this year we are using Horizons in the Arabic

around
the country. A workbook
accompanies each textbook allowing the student to
consolidate learning and for teachers to monitor and assess progress.

Quran
Alhamdulillah we have daily Qur'an classes for the entire school,
lower grades (Pre K - 1st Grade) are taught seperately, each class by
their grade.
Upper
grades (Grades 2-8) are divided in to levels, there are currently 3
levels that students are placed in after a placement test.
Level
1 Beginners: In this level students are taught the basics of
learning
how to read the Qur'an using the well known and widely implemented
"ahsanul Qawaid" book, students recognize the various forms of the
alphabet and learn the signs (harakaat), fatha, kasra, dhamma,
fathatain, kasratain, dhammatain, sukun, shadda, huruful madd, which in
turn help them read and memorize the Qur'an.
Students
in this level also begin to memorize the short Suwar from Juz 'am (30),
the aim is to have them memorize 25/30 Suwar which they can recite in
Salah on a daily basis.
Level 2 Intermediate:
In this level
students are given a crash course of "Ahsanul Qawaid", more emphasis is
placed on the latter lessons of the book and after this students are
taught and encouraged to read from the Qur'an without any further aid.
Students
also memorize the entire Juz 'Am (30) in this level, more emphasis is
placed on Tajweed and correct recitation of the Holy Qur'an.
This level is for students who may have started or finished the Qaida
or can read the Holy Qur'an but are not fluent and have difficulties in
reading.
Level
3 Advanced: This level is for students who are fluent in reading
the
Holy Qur'an, the focus is to have the students memorize longer Surahs
from Juz 29 and 28.
One of our greatest priorities is to have
students who can read fluently from the Holy Qur'an, we have
experianced many students who memorize very quickly Mashallah, but over
years the memorized portion becomes weak and they are unable to review
because they cannot read the holy Qur'an looking inside, therefore our
aim along with memorization is have students who are able to recite the
Quran fluently looking
inside.
Alhamdulillah we also have a
Hifdh Program for the more advanced
students and for those dedicated parents who wish to benefit more from
the school. The Hifdh program begins before school starts at 7:15am,
students take a break for assembly and then resume untill 9am. This
program is aimed for students who can recite fluently and are motivated
to memorize the words of our creator.
